Wright W-18 Sunburst Dreadnought SN #75
Once again we have the pleasure of showcasing a wonderful Nathaniel Wright creation. While this one holds some similarities to its sister, 076, they boast very different but equally beautiful sunburst, different origins of top wood, along with very different neck profiles.
Number 075 features a very nice Adirondack Spruce top from Maine, with forward shifted scalloped X bracing in the 1937 style, Honduran mahogany back and sides, ebony wood binding, ebony fingerboard/ bridge, one piece mahogany neck with dovetail neck joint, bone nut and long saddle, Gotoh open back tuning machines, a striking Brazilian headstock overlay, a modern style neck carve, similar to low oval thickness, but with slightly more V in the upper register, adjustable truss rod, 1 3/4 nut width, 2 5/16 string spacing at the saddle, nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and proudly made by hand in Tennessee!
Number 075 has a very clean sound, with a formidable bass response, and handles altered tuning’s such as drop D very well. This is a lightly built instrument, with wonderful volume and great mahogany cut, without being to cutting. For those players who have a lighter touch, or prefer an instrument to respond quickly and with great volume without digging in, you will be ecstatic with this one. This instrument showcases the versatility of mahogany, and is infused with beauty by the hand of its maker. with little effort, she will ring out just like John Henry’s hammer, and you won’t have to break the bank to own a one-of-a-kind custom masterpiece instrument. It’s hard to go wrong when you go Wright
