2005 Martin D-28 Marquis

$3,399.00

Here we have a player’s guitar that has matured nicely over the last 20 years. This D-28 Marquis embodies the classic dreadnought sound which has inspired the masses. an hour opinion, this instrument competes with any of the modern Authentic instruments, for a far less taxing experience on your bank account. The bass is very open and powerful, but then again so is the mid range and treble. Due to its age and construction, along with high-quality Adirondack being used on the top and bracing, it exudes the often chased sound and volume of the guitars from the 30s.

This particular example Has more dryness, and a heavier fundamental than what some would expect out of a rosewood guitar. The action is wonderful up and down the fret board, and the instrument shows no sign of ever having a neck reset. there is enough saddle to lower it slightly for future adjustment, however like every guitar, it will need a neck reset at some point. The frets only show faint signs of wear, and the neck is currently very straight with minimal relief. please pay attention to the photographs, there are various dings, bumps, scrapes, scratches, gouges, all indicating that this was not a closet queen. After all, that’s why it sounds as good as it does! Someone who plays Guitars, has played it. additionally, there are various spots on the binding where it has been bumped, and the lacquer has chipped away, along with an area on the top treble side upper bout, where we believe the binding has been re-glued at some point. Also, it appears as though the Guitar may have been under humidified at sometime, causing the center seam of the top to open behind the bridge. it has been glued, and there are a couple of cleats on the underside, one behind the bridge plate, the other behind the tone bars, and it is a rock solid and stable repair. Famed luthier Johnny Rushing evaluated this guitar, and pronounced it to have a clean bill of health, and the center seem repair to be stable and well done. Additionally, please note that the original pick guard was replaced at some point with a Dalmatian style guard. However, the original pick guard is included in the case. It comes with the original case, along with information showing that it was originally purchased at Wildwood Music. many say that nothing sounds like a Martin, and this example lens credibility to that ideology. trades gladly considered.
